Local Nonprofit Supports the Economy through Increasing Financial Knowledge Among Local Business Owners and Entrepreneurs

Accion San Diego, a nonprofit micro-lender offering business loans from $300 to $35,000, is hosting a Small Business Boot Camp April 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Joe and Vi Jacobs Center. This free workshop is for owners of start-up ventures and growing businesses and will offer specialized coaching on how to maintain a fiscally fit and thriving business.

The Small Business Boot Camp will feature an extensive resource center, networking opportunities and two specialized programs led by a team of small business coaches. There will be a Start-Up Program for new and aspiring business owners and a Growth Program for seasoned business owners.

The Start-Up Program will cover:
• 10 key steps to starting a business
• Financing and banking basics for new ventures
• Marketing 101 for new businesses
The Growth Program will cover:
• Financial statements and how to tell if a business is fiscally fit
• Hiring and managing employees for growth
• Marketing that’s actually profitable

“Successfully executing the start-up and growth phases of any small business are vital for long term success,” explained Elizabeth Schott, Accion’s executive director. “The Boot Camp workshop will help small business owners assess the health of their business and identify the right strategies to grow and maintain a healthy business.”

The workshop will take place in Celebration Hall at the center at 404 Euclid Ave.

Registration and networking will begin at 8 a.m. Registration is free and includes a continental breakfast and parking. To register, visit www.accionsandiego.com/bootcamp.html.
